UCISAT is the University of California Irvine CubeSat development program. The project is coordinated by a handful of undergraduate engineering students. The team is advised by:
UCISAT 1 was designed in accordance with the classic 1U cubesat design requirements. When launched, UCISAT 1 will enter sun-synchronous low-earth orbit. The primary mission objective is to capture images of Earth and transmit them back to the K6UCI ground station located on campus. The secondary mission objective is to record and transmit angular velocity data taken from the inertial sensor, which has never flown in space.
UCISAT 2 is being designed to determine whether natural sunlight and high energy radiation can break down pollutant compounds in water for recycling during extended space explorations. UCISAT 2 is currently in the design phase.
